Ode to a Galveston Seagull
Jul 5, 2022
A poem from the beach
On the beach, I saw you fly
With a graceful swoop in the sky
Like Jonathon Livingston Seagull up on high
Your flight of fancy draws me nigh
Your seagull squawks I adore
If suddenly your kind was no more
As part of the tapestry of the surf
I would mourn on this turf
The same the beach would not be
Without your strange cacophony
Oh, I marvel at the site
Of you in such noisy, wondrous flight
