The Redneck Car Key and the Valet

A funny country hack

After writing a technical article about Python that took me days to code, test, debug and write, I needed to write something light-hearted and hopefully funny.

I grew up in North Louisiana in a small town south of Shreveport — Keithville. We lived modestly. In fact most of the time we lived on 5 acres in a double-wide. Or to be more euphemistic, in today’s parlance, it would be called a manufactured home.

My beloved stepdad who I miss so much was a master of the jerry-rig. To his credit, he was certainly an inventive fellow. He was responsible for multiple patents for a company he worked for.

But around the ‘land’ which we called it, he half-assed fixed things. If a muffler fell down and started sparks flying, you were told to get a clothes hanger and tie it up to the frame. That kind of thing. The many used cars he collected either needed constant repairs or they were sitting at the back of the property in the piney woods. He was a good man though and did most of the cooking around the house and worked hard at his job.
